Gullveig created the Firstborn as stewards of her newly created paradise. She created these people from various aspects of the island:
- Nat’las, those born from the forest
- Nat’karn, those born from stone
- Nat’vad, those born from the water
- Nat’vin, those born from the air
In part she also entrusted them with some of her seiðr magic to help in their quest. They act in complete secrecy from the Ironlanders, only taking drastic actions if the situation demands it and Jarneyna is threatened.
