Aldur was a famous blacksmith, instrumental to the rise and fall of Zhan and ending the Blood Wars.

Biography

Early Life

Son to a blacksmith, he suffered under his abusive father. From an early age, he was forced to work in his smithy. He would never be good enough in his fathers eyes, and would thus be beaten up constantly by him, as punishment. His mother would not intervene.

In an effort to make his father proud of him, he honed his craft as much as possible. As such he got the attention of Zhan, as he recognized the immense talent in the young boy. Zhan killed his father and made Aldur his personal armorer and weaponsmith.

Blacksmith of Zhan

Under Zhan, Aldur was able to grow to his fullest potential. Seeing Zhan as the father he never had, he would constantly outdo himself and his craft.

By mixing in charcoal to the iron, he would be one of the first to forge steel. This would provide the army of Zhan and immense advantage and made them nearly unstoppable.

Having constant contact with iron, the Iron Corruption would grow faster and more uncontrollably then in any other person, even concerning Zhan.

Cure and Betrayal

In a secretive mission, a contingency of Nat’las warriors would kidnap Aldur. The Firstborn saw the unbridled corruption within him and recognized the immense danger that meant. They had to act fast, in the hopes to stop the corruption in its track. He did undergo the ritual of Hreinsun and against all odds survived.

Now a changed man - and one of the few, that ever saw a Firstborn - he switched sides and defected to the army gathering at Vonvallar, hoping to redeem himself.

Death

As there was not enough time to equip the resistance army with weapons and armours to challenge the impeding army of Zhan, he proposed a different solution. Under the mantle of the night and with the help of some of the Firstborn that helped him, he infiltrated the command tent of Zhan and slit his throat.

In the ensuing chaos, he was still able to kill some of Zhan’s trusted lieutenants, before he himself was killed. But having lost its general, most of its commanders and gifted blacksmith, the army would be defeated.

Personality

Aldur mostly kept to himself, only opening up once he was next to the fires of a smithy. His upbringing would make him skittish, so much that he only trusted Zhan, and would follow him - if necessary - to the end of the world.

Much like Zhan, the continued contact with iron and the situation of the war, would make him susceptible to the Iron Corruption, maybe even more so than anyone else.

After his cure, he would return to his humble and shy self, that he once was. But the horrors on what he enabled for so many years, drove him to sacrifice himself for the greater good.
