The Blood Wars were a series of conflicts in the early years of the history of Jarneyna after the Rupture.

History

The newly discovered land quickly fell into disarray, when raiders and bandits would attack settlements. This would lead a young Zhan in the year 35 AR to rally like minded people around him and start defending villages against these attacks.

Emboldened by his early success and slowly driven by the greed for power, courtesy of the Iron Corruption, he would start to wage war for more than two decades. All under the pretence to bring peace, law and order to all of Jarneyna. His law. And anybody that opposed it, had to die.

Early in his campaign he found a talented young blacksmith, Aldur, that forged weapons and armour so immaculate, that his army became almost unstoppable.

It was only an intervention of the Firstborn and a remorseful Aldur, that the remaining resistance was able to defeat Zhan. The blacksmith snuck himself into the command tent, at the eve of the battle at Vonvallar and killed Zhan.

Thus at 57 AR, the wars ended as abruptly as the had started.

Aftermath

The remains of Zhan and his lieutenants were buried in a tomb, hidden and only known to a selected few. Together they also entombed - most of them still alive - several hundred followers of Zhan. The Tomb was sealed, buried under dirt, rubble and rock, it’s existence purged from all records and to be never talked about again.

However, the harm was already done. The years of battle and bloodshed had fuelled the Iron Corruption so much, that it would be engrained into the very fabric of Jarneyna and its people. Manifesting a few years later as a terrifying mist.
